“People start to heal the moment they feel heard.”

Cheryl Richardson

Therapist/Psychosexual Evaluator

Angela earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Iowa in 2008 and a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from the University of North Dakota. She has practiced as a licensed therapist (LISW/LCSW) since 2013 and is currently a second-year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Fielding Graduate University.

Angela specializes in working with children and adolescents ages 7–17 who have exhibited problematic sexual behaviors (PSB), as well as conducting adult and juvenile psychosexual evaluations. She also facilitates the Problematic Sexual Behavior Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT) program at the Rock Island County Children’s Advocacy Center, providing specialized group treatment to youth and their caregivers.

Psychosexual evaluations are specialized assessments used to better understand an individual’s sexual history, interests, attitudes, and behaviors and to evaluate factors associated with risk for sexual reoffending. Evaluations are used to identify treatment needs, assess risk and protective factors, and provide individualized recommendations.

Angela has conducted numerous psychosexual evaluations with adult and juvenile populations and works with agencies throughout Iowa and Illinois. She is recognized as a Sex Offender Treatment Professional (SOTP-I) in Iowa and an Associate Sex Offender Provider in Illinois and is trained in evidence-based risk assessment tools, including the Static-99, Stable-2007, and SAPROF-SO.

In addition to evaluation services, Angela provides individual and group treatment, with a particular focus on helping youth with problematic sexual behaviors develop healthy boundaries, accountability, impulse control, coping skills, and safer behavior. She is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Problematic Sexual Behavior Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT) for children and adolescents.
