Therapy Services

How do I know if my child or teen needs therapy?

Many children and teens struggle with mental health challenges. If you notice significant changes in their behavior, mood, academic performance, or relationships, or if they're experiencing persistent sadness, anxiety, stress, or difficulty coping with life events, therapy can provide a safe and productive space for them to process their feelings and develop coping skills.

What is school-based therapy?

School-based therapy brings licensed mental health professionals directly into schools to provide therapy services to students during the school day. This model makes mental health treatment highly accessible and convenient for families by eliminating transportation barriers and allowing for direct collaboration with school staff.

Where does Blue Tree currently offer school-based therapy?

We currently provide licensed, professional clinical therapists at Jefferson Elementary School in Davenport, IA, and Bettendorf High School in Bettendorf, IA.

Is school-based therapy different from outpatient therapy?

No, the therapy your child receives at school is the same comprehensive, effective treatment they would get at an outpatient center. We address a wide range of mental health issues and work to minimize any missed academic time.

What is play therapy?

Play therapy is a therapeutic approach primarily used with children. It allows children to express their feelings, thoughts, and experiences through play, which is their natural language. It's a powerful way for them to process emotions, resolve problems, and develop social skills in a safe and supportive environment.

What are Forensic Interviews and Psychosexual Evaluations?

Our experienced team provides specialized Forensic Interviews for children and teens, offering a supportive and neutral environment to gather sensitive information in a trauma-informed manner. Additionally, we conduct thorough Psychosexual Evaluations to assess complex cases, providing comprehensive insights crucial for legal proceedings, treatment planning, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved. These services are conducted with the utmost care and professionalism, adhering to best practices in forensic psychology.

Do you offer couples or family therapy?

Yes, we provide counseling for couples, and family therapy. We believe that a strong foundation in relationships positively impacts every other area of life. Using evidence-based approaches, we help partners and families gain insight, improve trust, and cultivate deeper understanding and intimacy.

Community & Professional Development

Does Blue Tree offer presentations or workshops for the community or professionals?

Yes! Our Blue Tree therapists are dedicated to sharing their expertise. Each offers specialized presentations, trainings, and workshops on a variety of mental health topics, including the intentional use of art as a therapeutic intervention and various play therapy topics.

How can I find out more about specific presentations or request a workshop?

You can find more detailed information and a list of available sessions on each therapist's individual page, or the Trainings & Workshops page. If you have a specific workshop or training need that isn't listed, please don't hesitate to reach out to us, as we're often able to customize our offerings.
