THIS IS THE REGISTRATION OPTION FOR FRIDAY JUNE 7TH 8:30AM-11:45AM (3 contact hours, plus a 15 minute break).

Come Join Marisa Mansfield, LISW RPT for a three hour course to explore ethical play therapy practices with children.

Training to be held at the Blue Tree Outpatient Office located at 3475 Jersey Ridge Road, Suite 2, Davenport IA. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

COURSE OBJECTIVES INCLUDE:

  • Explore NASW Code 1.02 Self Determination and why it is crucial in play therapy with children.

  • Understand the dynamics of Ageism between parents and their children.

  • Learn strategies to treatment plan with the child as the identified client.

  • Explore NASW Code 1.07 Privacy and Confidentiality and why this can become a point of conflict with legal guardians. 

  • Learn strategies to ethically advocate for your child clients.

  • Learn strategies on how to ethically partner with parents and guardians on achieving client goals in play therapy.

  • Increase confidence around appropriate boundary setting with parents.

Marisa is a Registered Play Therapist and Clinical Social Work Supervisor. She is currently in private practice with Blue Tree Counseling & Consultation while also holding a contract with the Davenport Community School District to provide school based therapy to elementary aged students. Marisa is eclectic in her practice, however uses primarily Adlerian Play Therapy. She is also fond of using exposure therapy techniques (ERP), cognitive behavioral therapy, child centered play therapy, and mindfulness all while using a trauma informed lens.
